What is Indology?
Indology, a subset of South Asian Studies, is the academic study of the history and cultures, languages, and literature of India. We acknowledge the history of the cannabis plant in India, which many sources cite as the origin of the “indica” species of marijuana plants (cannabis indica). Indica strains ( varieties) are notably resinous, dense and stoney, containing high amounts of CBD (cannabidiol) as used in medical marijuana programs, while the psychoactive THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content varies per strain. Wild cannabis indica plants and feral hybrids are found growing throughout the Himalayas.
